Sun 18th May v Milborne Port CC (Home) - MWL

Milborne Port (191 all out) beat Broadwindsor (178 for 9 wkts) by 13 runs

Electing to bat, the visitors made a good start, openers Enticott (43) and Tupman (25) adding 77 for the first wicket. The introduction of young spinner Jack Ronan (3-42) slowed their progress with Nimoda Baroda, Toby Pattemore and Buddika Bandaranayaka all picking up a brace as Port were bowled out for 191 in the 39th over. Broadwindsor’s reply looked dead and buried as a shocking start saw them slump to 25-5, with fine bowling from J.Wroe (4-32) some poor shots and a needless run out hit the home side’s hopes. Then came a superb 118 run partnership for the sixth wicket from Ryan Sweetman (28) and Pattemore (77), his second successive half century including 12 fours and 2 sixes. The next twist saw Pattemore caught on the boundary and the villagers tail couldn’t quite see them over the line.

A late flurry saw the home side reach 162 all out, which looked light on a good track and fast outfield. Richie Runyard blasted a quick fire 35, adding 66 with Adrian Waddington, then the second wicket added a further 70 as Nimoda Baroda stroked a classy 51. Sat 19th July v Les Erbs CC (Home) - T

Broadwindsor (213 for 8 wkts) beat Les Erbs (128 all out) by 85 runs
Broadwindsor recorded an 85 run victory over touring team Les Erbs on Saturday. The Visitors, in their 30th year touring Dorset, won the toss and elected to field but were soon regretting their decision as the home batters made steady progress. Joe Hawkins opened with a quick fire 25, and Johno Gudge a rapid 28, but the highlight was a superb maiden century from young Ollie Weatherall, which included 13 fours and 3 sixes, enabling the villagers to reach 213-8 off their 30 overs. In reply, the tourists started well with a stylish 49 from Charlie Campbell, but when he fell to a superb boundary catch from Ryan Sweetman they fell further and further behind the required rate. Experienced spinner Mickey Spiller (3-21) led the way, while 14 year old Freddie Hillier (1-30 off 6 overs) bowled tidily on his debut for the club. All I all an enjoyable game against old friends, topped off with a few beers after.

Sun 20th July v Milborne Port CC (Away) - MWL

Broadwindsor (112 for 8 wkts) beat Milborne Port (110 all out) by 2 wkts

Promoted captain Ryan Sweetman won the toss and elected to bowl on a pitch made spicy by heavy overnight rain. Port had made steady progress to 57 when Leo James (3-25) made the key breakthrough, having the League’s top run scorer Joel Enticott caught for 30. A collapse then followed as spinners Jack Ronan and Ali Crawford snared 2 wickets each as the home side slumped to 81-7. The tail wagged slightly but Toby Pattemore (2-16) ended the resistance, and a total of 110 was recorded.
The villagers reply had a disastrous start as Rich Runyard and Dean Hyett went for ducks and it was 1-2. Dan Hillier (24) and Crawford (29) rebuilt but every time a partnership developed a couple of wickets fell as the game swung both ways. Pattemore (20) and Ollie Weatherall (12) added 29 but 11 were still needed when the 8th wicket fell. Nimoda Baroda and Jack Ronan had different ideas in how to clinch the victory, Ronan trying to inch there in singles, but Baroda ensured the crucial victory, slashing a four over the slips then smashing a superb 6 over extra cover to win the match.
